Online Services

Online Services

Connect to your GP services online and save time. Quick, easy and secure.

In cooperation with EMIS, our computer supplier, we are able to give patients internet access to the practice. This allows you to book telephone appointments and cancel or check these; request repeat prescriptions; and advise us of address changes; all on the Web. This facility, similar to online banking, is a first in the UK.

We hope it will be more convenient for you, and also give our reception staff more time to deal with other enquiries. We plan to add other features as and when they become available.

How It Works

At busy times it can be difficult to contact the practice by telephone, and after hours there is no one to answer the phone for routine enquiries. Using the internet, you will be able to view a range of available telephone appointments including face to face appointments for the Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants. Only selected telephone doctor appointments are available in this way – you will need to ring the surgery to book all other appointments including for the Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants; ante-natal;

For repeat prescriptions, you will be able to view and select those drugs that you require. You will only be able to see those drugs that your doctor has classed as suitable for repeat prescribing. For all other drugs you will need to contact the surgery in the normal way.

Getting Started

For patients aged 13 and above, you will need to bring two forms of identification into the surgery (at least one that has your photo and at least one that has your address – the same thing can’t be used twice) and have a valid email address. Our reception team will then provide you with an application for online access, once you have completed this form they will supply you with your login credentials and details on how to access the website. You will need to log into this account with 10 days of activation, otherwise the account will be locked for security purposes

After registering, you log on with your patient number and a password. You will then be able to view appointments you have already made, cancel them if necessary, and book an appointment with your doctor after checking the times available.

If you are a parent applying for access on behalf of a child under the age of 11, you will need to bring in identification for both of you (the identification for the child can be a passport of birth certificate) and also confirm that you have parental responsibility. This is usually identified by being named on the child’s birth certificate/court order.

Once your child reaches the age of 11, then access will be suspended and your child will need to re-apply. For children aged 11-13, they will need to bring their ID themselves and their application will be evaluated. Place contact the surgery in advance to arrange this process.

To apply for online access to your detailed medical records, you will need to complete a separate application at the Surgery.

If you require more information on how to apply, please contact the surgery on 01989 563646

Security

We take the security of our patients’ information very seriously. By working with EMIS, the company that provides the computer systems for this practice (and for more than 50% of all doctors in the UK), we can ensure that the information you provide when using the internet facility is protected.

All communications with the practice web site are encrypted, using the same high security that major banks use for their internet transactions (128 bit SSL). Only you can see the personal information you enter.

The web site is administered at a remote high-security site managed by EMIS, not at the practice, so there is no possibility of unauthorised access. Using the most up-to-date version of your web browser also improves security of information.

Remember to close the browser after use, especially if someone else could access your computer.

Queries or Comments?

If you have any questions or comments about using the internet appointment booking facility, first contact the receptionist, who will be pleased to help you, or contact us through this site.
